# Ask every customer for a Google review, without having to remember

> When a job is marked done, the customer gets a friendly email with a one-tap link to review you on Google, plus one reminder if they have not. Can be added to any plan; standard on Pro.

Most happy customers would leave a review if asked at the right moment; the trouble is remembering to ask. Automated review requests do the asking for you. When you mark a job or booking as done in your enquiry list, the customer is sent a short, friendly email in your name with a link that opens the Google review box for your business in one tap. If they have not left a review after a few days, they get one reminder, and that is it. It follows Google's rules: every customer is asked, not just the ones you expect to be pleased, because filtering out unhappy customers, known as review gating, is against Google's policy, and there are no discounts or prizes for reviewing. It works alongside our review system, which shows reviews on your own site. A text-message version is coming as the Review booster bolt-on, which is not live yet; today, requests go by email. Automated review requests can be added to any plan (Monthly, Own It or Pro), priced on your call, and come as standard on Pro.

## How it works

1. **You mark the job as done** - When a job or booking is finished, you change its status to done in your enquiry list, as you would anyway. That is the only thing you need to do.
2. **The customer gets a friendly email** - A short email goes to the customer in your name, thanking them and asking if they would mind leaving a review, with a link straight to your Google review box.
3. **One reminder if needed** - If they have not clicked through after a few days, they get a single gentle reminder. After that, no more emails are sent about that job.
4. **Everyone is asked the same way** - Every finished job gets the same request. There is no step that screens out unhappy customers first, and no reward for leaving a review, in line with Google's rules.

## Why it matters

- **A steady flow of reviews** - Asking every customer, every time, tends to produce far more reviews than asking when you happen to remember, and recent reviews matter to people choosing between local businesses.
- **No awkward conversations** - You do not have to ask face to face or chase people by message. The request arrives at a sensible time and is easy to act on or ignore.
- **Safe with Google** - Because it asks everyone and offers nothing in return, it stays within Google's review policies, so you are not risking reviews being removed or your profile being penalised.

## Questions

### Can I only send review requests to happy customers?

No, and we do not build it that way. Google's policies do not allow businesses to selectively ask only satisfied customers, known as review gating, so every finished job gets the same request.

### Can I offer a discount for leaving a review?

No, offering incentives for reviews breaks Google's rules and can get reviews removed. The request simply asks politely, and the customer decides whether to leave one and what to say.

### How is this different from your review system?

Our review system collects reviews and shows them on your own website. Automated review requests send customers to your Google profile after each job. They work well together, and many businesses use both.

### Can review requests be sent by text message?

Not yet. Today, requests are sent by email. A text-message version is coming as our Review booster bolt-on, and we will let you know when it is available.

### Which plans can have automated review requests?

Any plan. Automated review requests can be added to Monthly, Own It or Pro, priced on your call, and come as standard on Pro.
