Uptime monitoring means something checks your website every few minutes, day and night, and shouts if it stops loading. On every Nerdsharks plan that something shouts at us, not you. We run your site against a 99.9% uptime target, which is a target we work to rather than a promise that nothing can ever go wrong. When a problem does happen we are usually on it before a customer notices, and SSL certificate renewals are handled automatically so you never get the "not secure" warning that scares people off.

## How it works

1. **Checked around the clock** - An automated monitor loads your site from outside our network every few minutes, 24 hours a day, including bank holidays and Christmas morning.
2. **We get the alert, not you** - If your site stops responding or starts loading slowly, the alert comes straight to us. You carry on with the job you are on.
3. **We fix it and tell you** - We find the cause, put it right and send you a short message explaining what happened in plain English, so nothing is hidden from you.
4. **SSL renewed automatically** - The certificate that puts the padlock in the address bar renews itself before it expires, and we watch that it did.

Yes, we tell you if your website had a problem, what caused it and what we did about it. You do not get raw alerts at 3am; we deal with those and send you the plain-English version.

### Is uptime monitoring included in the Monthly plan?

Uptime monitoring is included on every plan, including Monthly at £99 a month. It is part of hosting, not an add-on.

### Do I need to renew my SSL certificate?

No, your SSL certificate renews automatically and we check that it has. You will never need to buy, install or remember one.
