# Brightfield Solar - website by Nerdsharks

> A small solar and battery installer in Exeter, selling into a market full of lead-generation sites, doorstep pressure and "up to 90% savings" claims. Homeowners arrive sceptical. They want to know what a system on their roof would actually generate in Devon weather, what it costs, and who turns up to fit it. Designed and built by Nerdsharks.

## Design rationale

Brightfield opens like a product launch, not a lead-gen form. The whole first screen is a rounded dusk window. A Blender film of a house sits in the middle of it, and a giant, hair-thin DAYLIGHT stands behind the roof, with the film lightening over the letters so the house reads as standing in front of the word. A sun travels a dashed arc across the window on a twelve-second day, lighting the arc behind it as it goes. The readouts orbiting the house follow it: generation climbs from 0 to 3,912 W and falls back, the sun's altitude rises and sets, and the battery fills through the afternoon and drains overnight. Every readout is labelled as an example home. There is one small headline and one action, a postcode pill for the free roof check. As you scroll, DAY and LIGHT slide apart, the house grows and the readouts drift away. An amber sun-path line then draws itself down the rest of the page, the first-year estimate counts up, and the 'day on your roof' chart traces a real generation curve. The page closes in a second window, where a giant 06:40 rises like tomorrow's sunrise behind the roof-check form. Chakra Petch is used thin and large for numbers and headings, like an instrument panel, and Hanken Grotesk keeps the body copy calm. Every figure is labelled as an estimate, because overclaiming is exactly what this customer has learned to distrust.

## Features

- **A dusk-window hero where a sun crosses the sky and the readouts follow it** - Watching generation rise with the sun and the battery fill before dark explains a solar-and-battery system in twelve seconds, without a paragraph of copy.
- **First-year estimate that counts up in kWh and pounds** - The first question is always "what would it save me?", so the page answers it with a sober, labelled figure for a typical Exeter roof before anything else.
- **A "day on your roof" generation curve drawn on scroll** - Showing when the panels produce and when the battery takes over explains self-consumption better than a paragraph ever could.
- **Three fixed-price systems, with a battery-first option** - Published "from" prices filter out tyre-kickers and reassure the people who have been burned by a pushy salesman quoting on the sofa.
- **A four-step install timeline, including the DNO and export tariff** - Customers worry about the paperwork. Showing who handles the grid notification and the export tariff removes the last objection.
- **A roof check form that needs only a postcode** - A satellite check from a postcode is a low-commitment first step that suits a considered, months-long purchase.
