## About Abercarn

Abercarn is a former mining village strung along the Ebbw valley floor between Newbridge and Risca, with terraced houses climbing the hillsides and the Cwmcarn forest drive close by. Most working residents travel down the valley towards Newport and Cardiff, so jobs get booked in the evening from a phone. Stone-fronted terraces on steep streets bring their own damp, roofing and access problems, and a trade that shows it knows these houses and covers Cwmcarn and Crosskeys will stand out from firms quoting from further afield.

## Nearby

Newbridge (1 mile), Crumlin (2 miles), Risca (3 miles) and Blackwood (3 miles) are the nearest in the same council area. Across the boundary into the next council area, Old Cwmbran (5 miles) and Pontypool (5 miles) are also close. Naming the towns you actually cover tells people straight away whether you will come to them.

We are based in Exeter and work with Abercarn businesses remotely.

## Questions

### Do you actually work with businesses in this area?

Yes. We are based in Exeter and build websites for businesses right across the UK. The work is done remotely, by phone, WhatsApp and video call, and we will not pretend to have an office down the road from you.

### Does it matter that you are not local to me?

For building and looking after a website, no. Everything is done by phone, WhatsApp and video call, and you approve the design on your own phone before anything goes live. What does matter is local search visibility, and that depends on the site and your Google Business Profile being set up for your area, not on where we sit.

### How do I compete with bigger businesses in my area locally?

By being specific. A large regional firm usually has one page that covers everywhere; you can have a page about what you do in your town, naming the areas you cover and the jobs you do. Add a fast site and a fully completed Google Business Profile, and you are giving local searchers a clearer answer than a page written for the whole region.
