## About Bedford

Bedford is a county town on the Great Ouse with a fast rail line into London, so a good share of residents commute while spending their money locally. It is also a notably mixed town culturally, with a long-established Italian community among many others. For a local business that means a varied customer base with different expectations, and a website that plainly lists the Bedford neighbourhoods and nearby villages you cover tends to beat one that just says "Bedfordshire".

## Nearby

Inside the Bedford council area, the closest places are Kempston (2 miles) and Wixams (3 miles). Just over the council boundary, Ampthill (7 miles), Sandy (8 miles), Shefford (9 miles) and Flitwick (9 miles) are close by. Further out, Olney (10 miles) is within commuting distance. A list of the places you really serve is more useful to a customer than “and surrounding areas”.

We are based in Exeter and work with Bedford businesses remotely.

## Questions

### Do you actually work with businesses in this area?

Yes. We are based in Exeter and build websites for businesses right across the UK. The work is done remotely, by phone, WhatsApp and video call, and we will not pretend to have an office down the road from you.

### Does it matter that you are not local to me?

For building and looking after a website, no. Everything is done by phone, WhatsApp and video call, and you approve the design on your own phone before anything goes live. What does matter is local search visibility, and that depends on the site and your Google Business Profile being set up for your area, not on where we sit.

### How do I compete with bigger businesses in my area locally?

By being specific. A large regional firm usually has one page that covers everywhere; you can have a page about what you do in your town, naming the areas you cover and the jobs you do. Add a fast site and a fully completed Google Business Profile, and you are giving local searchers a clearer answer than a page written for the whole region.
