## About Mere

Mere is a small Wiltshire town tucked beneath Castle Hill at the meeting point of Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset, bypassed by the A303 and close to the Stourhead estate. Its centre is stone-built and historic, surrounded by farms and quiet villages whose residents might otherwise look to Shaftesbury, Gillingham or Warminster for services. Because the customer base spans three counties, a trade website that lists the villages it serves plainly will outperform one that only names the town.

## Nearby

Inside Wiltshire, the closest place is Warminster (9 miles). Just over the council boundary, Shaftesbury (7 miles), Wincanton (7 miles) and Bruton (8 miles) are close by. Further out, Frome (10 miles), Stalbridge (10 miles), Castle Cary (11 miles) and Sturminster Newton (11 miles) are within commuting distance. A list of the places you really serve is more useful to a customer than “and surrounding areas”.

We are based in Exeter and work with Mere businesses remotely.

## Questions

### Do you actually work with businesses in this area?

Yes. We are based in Exeter and build websites for businesses right across the UK. The work is done remotely, by phone, WhatsApp and video call, and we will not pretend to have an office down the road from you.

### Does it matter that you are not local to me?

For building and looking after a website, no. Everything is done by phone, WhatsApp and video call, and you approve the design on your own phone before anything goes live. What does matter is local search visibility, and that depends on the site and your Google Business Profile being set up for your area, not on where we sit.

### How do I compete with bigger businesses in my area locally?

By being specific. A large regional firm usually has one page that covers everywhere; you can have a page about what you do in your town, naming the areas you cover and the jobs you do. Add a fast site and a fully completed Google Business Profile, and you are giving local searchers a clearer answer than a page written for the whole region.
