## About Thaxted

Thaxted is a small Essex town with a striking medieval guildhall, a tall church spire, a restored windmill and streets of timber-framed houses, and it is linked with Gustav Holst, who lived here. Much of it is listed, and the surrounding countryside is dotted with small villages and farmhouses. Work here calls for heritage-aware trades who can show conservation experience, while visitors and residents alike respond to independent businesses with clear, attractive sites.

## Nearby

The nearest towns in the same council area are Great Dunmow (6 miles) and Saffron Walden (6 miles). Elsewhere in Essex, Braintree (10 miles) and Halstead (12 miles) are within reach. Across the boundary into the next council area, Bishop's Stortford (10 miles) and Haverhill (10 miles) are also close. A longer drive takes in Sawbridgeworth (13 miles) and Clare (13 miles). If you cover some of these and not others, the site should name the ones you do.

We are based in Exeter and work with Thaxted businesses remotely.

## Questions

### Do you actually work with businesses in this area?

Yes. We are based in Exeter and build websites for businesses right across the UK. The work is done remotely, by phone, WhatsApp and video call, and we will not pretend to have an office down the road from you.

### Does it matter that you are not local to me?

For building and looking after a website, no. Everything is done by phone, WhatsApp and video call, and you approve the design on your own phone before anything goes live. What does matter is local search visibility, and that depends on the site and your Google Business Profile being set up for your area, not on where we sit.

### How do I compete with bigger businesses in my area locally?

By being specific. A large regional firm usually has one page that covers everywhere; you can have a page about what you do in your town, naming the areas you cover and the jobs you do. Add a fast site and a fully completed Google Business Profile, and you are giving local searchers a clearer answer than a page written for the whole region.
