## About Washington

Washington is a new town on the edge of Sunderland, laid out as numbered villages such as Concord, Oxclose and Fatfield around an older village with Washington Old Hall, the ancestral home of George Washington's family. The Nissan plant and its suppliers nearby make it a major employment centre. People think of their own village rather than the town as a whole, so naming them is essential, and customers expect fast, clear quotes.

## Nearby

The nearest town in the same council area is Sunderland (6 miles). Across the boundary into the next council area, Chester-le-Street (3 miles), Gateshead (5 miles), Jarrow (6 miles) and Newcastle upon Tyne (6 miles) are also close. If you cover some of these and not others, the site should name the ones you do.

We are based in Exeter and work with Washington businesses remotely.

## Questions

### Do you actually work with businesses in this area?

Yes. We are based in Exeter and build websites for businesses right across the UK. The work is done remotely, by phone, WhatsApp and video call, and we will not pretend to have an office down the road from you.

### Does it matter that you are not local to me?

For building and looking after a website, no. Everything is done by phone, WhatsApp and video call, and you approve the design on your own phone before anything goes live. What does matter is local search visibility, and that depends on the site and your Google Business Profile being set up for your area, not on where we sit.

### How do I compete with bigger businesses in my area locally?

By being specific. A large regional firm usually has one page that covers everywhere; you can have a page about what you do in your town, naming the areas you cover and the jobs you do. Add a fast site and a fully completed Google Business Profile, and you are giving local searchers a clearer answer than a page written for the whole region.
