Most redesign enquiries start the same way: the site was fine when it was built, the person who built it is no longer contactable, and nobody is sure how to change anything. Sometimes it is slow. Sometimes it looks like 2016. Usually it is producing almost no enquiries and nobody can say why. A redesign is a good idea when the site is genuinely holding the business back - and a waste of money when the real problem is that nobody can find it.

## We look before we quote

Before anything else we look at what the current site is doing: what it ranks for, what pages people actually visit, where they leave, and how fast it loads. Occasionally that leads us to say a redesign is not what you need. More often it tells us which pages are quietly working and must be preserved rather than thrown away.

- What the current site ranks for and gets traffic from
- Where visitors leave, and why
- Loading speed on a real phone
- What is worth keeping

## Carrying your rankings across without losing them

The most common way a redesign goes wrong is silently: the new site launches, every URL changes, nothing redirects, and three months of search traffic disappears before anyone connects the two events. Every URL on the old site gets mapped to its new home and redirected properly. It is unglamorous and it is the difference between a redesign that helps and one that costs you a year.

- Every old URL mapped and redirected
- Existing content preserved where it is working
- Search visibility monitored through the change
- Nothing important dropped in the move

## Questions

### Can I keep my existing content?

Yes. We migrate whatever is worth keeping and rewrite or drop the rest. Before quoting, we look at what your current site actually ranks for and gets traffic from, so the pages that are quietly working are preserved rather than thrown away.

### Will a redesign lose my Google rankings?

Not if the migration is done properly. The usual cause of lost rankings is that every URL changes and nothing redirects. We map every existing URL to its new home and set up permanent redirects, then monitor search visibility through the change.

### How long does it take to build?

We aim to have you live within 3 working days of your 15-minute call and your approval of the design. The main variable is content - how quickly you can get us your text, photographs and details. Larger builds take longer, and we will give you a realistic date before we start rather than an optimistic one.
