A mixed NHS and private practice losing registration enquiries because nobody can tell from the website whether it is taking NHS patients, and losing private treatment enquiries because no prices are published anywhere.

Many people arrive at a dental website anxious, so the page is laid out like a calm magazine rather than a clinic brochure. A navy utility bar carries the three things people look for first: that NHS registrations are open, the opening hours, and a number to ring if they are in pain. The cover headline, "We are taking new NHS patients", is set large in light Newsreader, with italics picked out in antique gold, and three small arch-shaped portraits sit inside the lines of type. On load the lines rise out of their masks and each arch opens from a thin slit onto a smile. Scrolling then pins the page while one great arch opens from a sliver to full bleed over a close, warm portrait, pushing the words "A calmer visit" aside. Arches return on every photograph and open as they scroll into view. The fees are set as an editorial table with dotted gold rules, and in the nervous-patients section the promise "Raise your hand. We stop." fills with ink word by word as you read. Public Sans keeps the long passages easy to read on ivory paper.

On the page
Says 'we are taking NHS patients' in the first second, in a way that feels warm rather than clinical.
Sends a new patient, someone in pain and someone considering bonding straight to the part they need.
Publishing every price in full removes the biggest worry people have before booking.
Reassures people who have put off the dentist for years that nothing happens without their agreement.
Tells someone in pain what to do on weekdays, out of hours and when to go to A&E.
